OK, I love the series, but it seems like nothing happened this episode.
Last episode, lots happened: Tara was (temporarily) saved, Sam was saved, Sookie, Bill and Maryann rumbled a bit.
This episode:Jason and Andy got to Maryann's...I mean Sookie's house.
Sookie and Lafayette got to Sookie's house.
Umm...that's about it.

I really dislike this plot. I will be glad when it is over. It just is not doing anything for me. I thought last nights episode was boring, and I really love this show.
About the only good parts for me was Jason and Andy talking in the pick up truck.

Granted a lot didn't "happen" in this episode, overall but I still really loved it. I loved seeing the Queen; Sookie's trip through her house was nightmarish and I loved seeing Lafayette front and center-even though he got turned at the end. :(

And the dog! I love that Sam reveals his secret to them and all Jason can think about is the obscene possibilities.

Can't wait for Maryanne storyline to be OVER!
Hopefully she will be gone this next episode and Sookie and Bill will celebrate by getting it on. :)

It was a setup episode. The pieces were being moved into place. A bit of a letdown, but I was still happy to see the queen. And Andy and Jason were great. Eric and Pam talking about the children was great. I now hate Lettie Mae and her goofy ass. And I hate Tara more than ever. I wanted Sookie to throw something and hit her in the head.

was the worst episode of the series, but I still enjoyed it well enough, and figure they are just setting it all up for the finale. i don't have a good feeling about Sam's fate though, I think they (eric/bill) are going to use him to get rid of Mary Ann.

They probably just want us to think that, but we all know (at least I think) Sookie is the real vessel.

And there's a possible explanation in the books for Sookie's power over MaryAnn
she's part fairy
but it hasn't been raised in the series and it seems a little late to be bringing it up now...

So, um, WTF was the giant Egg?
Why are Sookie and Lafayette so stupid as to not realize that Mary Anne can't be shot and/or that she'd easily be able to hypnotize Lafayette just as easily as she had Tara?
And, Menads exist because they think they exist? What was that supposed to mean?

I liked the episode--the episode before a finale is almost *always* set-up. You can't watch it and say "nothing happened" because the payoffs will be in the next episode. Anyway I can half-understand Tara's decision to go back to the house, but I don't get Sookie and Lafayette going after her. The writers made them look like morons thinking they could just shoot Maryanne. I'm just going with it because I think the writers needed a way to get all the characters at the house and unfortunately that was the only way they could do it. I like that they're playing out Lafayette's traumatization. I think shows skip over that stuff too often.
I felt like Sam's conversation with Arlene's kids about their father was set-up for something. I found it kind of random. I'm betting he was/is a werewolf, and they're part. Gotta feel bad for Hoyt too. First his girlfriend tries to eat his mother, then his mother tells him his father committed suicide instead of heroically saving the family from a robber. That had to sting.
Did I miss something with Sookie's cousin? I saw the "previously on" bit where Sookie mentions she ran away from rehab, but that was it. When she asked Bill how Sookie was doing, Bill didn't seem remotely surprised. I found that whole thing to be odd.

Ditto on the 'nothing happening" episode. Especially after the last few weeks of amazing episodes followed by even more amazing episodes. It was almost a let-down, but it was also clear this was a setup for the finale, so I can live with that.
Yeah, enough of MaryAnn. Time to move on . . .
Jason gets the best lines:
"Do you think Sam has ever turned into a dog and then had sex with a lady dog?"
"I wonder if Sam could turn into a chicken and lay his own egg?"
And my personal favorite:
"Andy, they may be rednecks and dumb asses, but they're still Americans!"

So, um, WTF was the giant Egg?
Found this little tidbit- MaryAnn's chant of "Lo lo Bromios, lo lo Dendrites, lo lo Enorches"
Well in Greek mythology Enorches was was born from an egg.
Also found Maxine's words to Hoyt a bit odd, to say the least- "Maryann will remember this day for the rest of her life. I don't have the heart to tell her it's all downhill from here, 'cause there ain't a woman alive who'd go through with it if she knew the truth." She then goes on to list all the things she missed out on by having had a child.
Is she saying MaryAnn will be sorry she produces/hatches/conjures up something akin to a child?
Loved Eric and his "teacup human" observations.
Hate Tara more than ever. I don't care what sort of influence she is under, I would have a very difficult time forgiving her for destroying my home.
The Jason and Andy bits were great- Jason's mind just never stops :D

What you can blame her for is getting her mom to hold you at gunpoint. That's not cool.

Hello Little Humans
Eric <in creepy paedo voice>: Don't you like vampires, little girl?
Girl: Our almost stepdaddy hated vampires... but we don't.
Boy: He went on a vacation with Jesus.
Pam: You make me so happy I never had any of you.
Eric: Teacup humans!
Pam: Please get those horrible things out of here. I'll be smelling them for a week.
<Eric smiles>
yep, along with Andy and Jason's conversation in the truck, the only good scenes in what was otherwise the most boring episode of this season (still better than anything else currently on tv).
and then to make us wait 2 weeks for the payoff?

This was setup for a couple of future storylines, if Ball decides to follow the books in those directions. I think we've seen the last of the cousin for this season though.

Can someone post in plain English the Queen's explanation for what a Menad is and wants?
So, um, WTF was the giant Egg?
I had the feeling it was something to do with Tara and Eggs (how DID he get that name, eh?). But seriously: Maryanne was always trying to get them to screw - and OK, she's always trying to get EVERYONE to screw, but those two were a special case. Didn't she punish her valet for keeping them from going to bed together in one of the earliest scenes at her previous house? I think it's been somehow produced, or facilitated, or somehow helped into being by their sexual energy. And they're there in the room when we first see it.

I wouldn't call Michelle Forbes and Evan Rachel Wood bad actresses. Evan Rachel Wood has barely had a chance to show what she can do with this character, and unless you are someone who read the books and have an idea of what the Queen should be, I don't know if anyone can claim she has been miscast. I think Forbes is great as Maryanne. No complaint there.
As to Anna Paquin and Rutina Wesley, well, Anna Paquin is one of those actresses who get more praise than they deserve. I don't know what it is about her but she is just so flat for me. Rutina Wesley, I have seen her interviewed, and she seems like a pretty cool girl, unlike Tara who is an absolute bitch. So I give her props for totally making me hate a character, but she needs to work on that accent.

They're both good. And Forbes is good in this show.
Wood, I think, isn't taking it seriously enough. I think most of the actors on this show know that to do good camp, you have to really play it straight. (The scenes with Andy and Jason are a good example--Andy looks like he's playing dumb, and Jason looks like he's dumb.) Wood acts like she knows it's camp, which is deadly.

I have to be honest. Last night walking through the house was the first time this show has really creeped me. The townspeople are starting to get to me. I'm sorta glad this storyline is wrapping up.
I'm disappointed with the twist of Jessica and Hoyt. They're different enough from the novels that I have no idea where they're going to go with that one.
I liked the queen. She has the right affect for someone who's been alive that long (IMNSHO). I'm looking forward to seeing more of her.

I was a bit disappointed with how they reacted when Taras mom threatened the with a bolt action 22. As soon as she fired the warning shot the gun was harmless yet they kept flinching. All of the characters have experience with guns. (this is the south after all ;)

Not to be a wet blanket, but this episode left me cold. I wasn't crazy about the previous one either.
I know several folks didn't care for the Dallas storyline and were chomping at the bit for a return to Bon Temps. However, I am worried I have already seen the "as good as it gets" portion of the series.
To me, camp is similar to animation in that it has a short half-life. I can really, really, enjoy it for a while, but then the absurdities keep forcing me out of the "viewing experience," and I eventually tire of it. Hopefully that isn't the case with True Blood because, whining aside, I still think it's one of the best shows currently on television.

I agree this was a good setup for the Finale...
what annoys me, though, is that Sookie seems to have totally lost the ability to read minds...very convenient for the plot to advance, but totally stupid...Sookie would have easily known what Tara's mom was planning, for example...

It's like you might be able to hear, but that doesn't mean you're listening to all the conversations going on in a restaurant. Yes, sometimes you can't help but to overhear, but usually you're just aware that people are talking without really knowing what they're saying (unless you pay attention)...

She COULD have known, but she had no real reason to read her mind. And we know it's something she avoids when she can.
