Need help - my TIVO automatically increases the fast fowarding

When I hit the fast forward button one time, the TIVO automatically increases it to the next fast forward level, then to the third level, all by itself. I want to be able to fast forward on the low speed, but the TIVO won't let me. Can any one help? Many thanks from a novice.

Have you considered problems with your remote?

I have two Tivos and one of them has a remote that is less than accurate. It suffers from key bounce and sometimes no response.

Also, operation can become erratic as the batteries get weaker.
