Interesting developments. This is an example of what I really hate about some shows. The main character is acting on misinformation. He thinks Jill and her ex are back together, when in reality they are not, and he isn't actually asking HER about it. I realized that Jill told Charlie to get out after she realized that he had lied to both her and Hank. He was manipulating her, and that was something she wouldn't / couldn't live with long term, no matter what her other feelings might be for him.
The writers were a bit sly in making us think Evan was a jerk with poor business judgement, only to have the rug pulled out when we discover he gave the money to their father. The same father who abandoned them, and their mother.
My wife (who was born in India, and is Indian) now hates Divya for not doing what she wanted, and doing what was expected of her. She thinks that they have the family dynamic right, and she rebels against that whole culture of submission. Hey, she married me, and at the time her parents were very much against it, and threatened to not come.
Ghosts, and vampire bats--Oh my! And, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland references, curiouser, and curiouser.
Does anyone else feel like Divya's father is sometime going to ask her how much fiber is in her diet? Product placement?

But we can't taste the fiber....I am glad I am not tht only one to notice him.
Any guesses who will play the father? I vote for Scott Bakula, since this the only show he hasn't show up on yet.....LOL!!

I vote for Ray Wise as the father.

It's not a easy choice and I don't hate her the one she made.

They've effectively set up Hank adrift, having lost (or discarded) all of the connections he had (except perhaps, paradoxically, Boris). I hope that they don't start jerking us around, with a back and forth. My preference would be either to have these disconnections be effectively long-term and consistent, or one or more resolved in the short-term and then not activated again later.

Maybe this new money/father situation will give the writers the ability to rewrite/retool Evan's character into something more likable to the masses.
I really thought Hank was going to accept the date from the blonde, especially after all his talk to Jill about "not waiting" and "moving on with his life."

He's supposed to be the antithesis of Hank(The little brother you wish you never had(But still love in the end) and that causes friction between the two.

While I understand that, so far he has been QUITE the tool. And very annoyingly so. They just need to tone it down.

I just wish we didn't have to wait 10 months for the next season.

Why does every show on TV think we need turmoil? Can't we just enjoy the premise?
Makes me a bit crazy that every show feels the need to find dysfunction everywhere.

Why would all Hank's connections be gone? I don't understand this. His Dad stole the money, not his patients. He will still have those patients (though their retainers are gone, hopefully the contract includes pay for services too) and he should get new patients as he's done all along.

I agree, there was just too much chaos in this episode. I think the money thing with Evan and Dad would've been enough. Instead they also added the Divya situation plus Hank & Jill spiraled further down the drain for no good reason.

Makes me a bit crazy that every show feels the need to find dysfunction everywhere.I think the issue is that most viewers won't sit watching the grass grow on television. "Turmoil", as you put it, is the foundation of interest.

Ah, thanks for clarifying bicker. Yes, I agree, though it is not clear what happens to Divya in the immediate aftermath of the engagement. Does she stay until the wedding or does she go right off to London? I guess we'll find out.

I really don't like the sudden "We're broke and Dad did it" angle. Other than saying he abandoned the family years ago, has their father ever been mentioned in a way that would remotely suggest that he was an active character and that Evan was dealing with him behind Hank's back?
I'm so sick of Jill. I wish she would have taken her jerk ex-husband back and skidaddled off this show. The only good thing about Jill was the tight skirts she wore.

I disagree. Most people find something they like and want it to stay that way. Nothing wrong with people with interesting stuff happening AROUND them as opposed to things happening TO them.

Great eye candy but impossible to believe that someone so professionally put together could be so wishy washy about their personal life.

I liked the ending, but I think they put TOO many unanswered questions out there for a show like this. I agree that there was no real mention that dad was anything but someone who took off on mom, but my gut was that this was what made Evan and Hank close more than the father being some sort of con-artist. This came way too much out of the blue for me. I knew Divya for all her talk was going to do what her parents wanted. You could see that in the way she acted around them.

While I can't remember anything specific, I've always thought that Evan was still in touch with their Dad, so I wasn't surprised that it was Dad who scammed the money from them.
Perhaps it's the way Evan has reacted every time Hank has ranted about Dad?
Or maybe it's just me?

My guess is there'll be a Divya themed "Kiss my a**. I'm gonna do what I wanna do!" episode next year.

Anyone know what the writer's plans are for the break in the show? Are we going to have a huge gap in the timeline and pick up next summer? I can't imagine that the off season is the Hamptons is going to be that interesting. But then I've never liked shows that did a huge gap like that because there is then too much to catch up on when they come back.
