I just recently got hooked on cake shows. For those that like "Cake Boss" and "Ace of Cakes", there is a new cake show called "Ultimate Cake Off" that starts on 08-31-09.

The greatest cake artists in the world go head to head in competition to build the ultimate cake. Each week, three renowned cake decorators lead their teams to build cakes over five feet tall, weighing hundreds of pounds. These cakes are themed to fit a marquee event where the winning cake will be showcased as a centerpiece. Normally, it would take weeks to construct cakes of this magnitude. Our experts will have just nine hours. Who will have the vision, skill and determination to create the ultimate cake?

Food Network has their "Competition" show every week and pretty much each show is a theme for a cake team to work on and in the end winning team gets $10K.

Yes, I've seen "Challenge". I thought Food Network was running one lately where they were using the same competitors for a few weeks in a row though. Maybe it was the TLC ads I saw. Since TLC seems to just take Food Network shows and air them with different people, it's hard to keep track.
