I added the spoiler alert because it's being reaired on 9/1 right before the first Semi-Final.
I don't know which was more cruel:
(a) Telling the three sisters they were going home, then, "Oh, by the way, you're advancing to the semi-finals as well!" (they should have done what they did last year when Neil Boyd and Queen Emily were brought out (to the shock of pretty much everybody there) and just said, "The act advancing to the next round is...both of you!"), or
(b) Telling the next three acts that were brought out together, "The act that is going home is....all three of you".
I have a feeling the woman and her dogs (I'm pretty sure the dog in the Quarter-Final was different from the one from the original audition) would have advanced had they been on an earlier show, but there was already one dog act in the Semi-Finals and the viewers probably didn't want another one.

The only reason I keep watching this show is because my 7 year old makes me. And even she has gotten bored with it. It is so redundant. 2 hour shows one night, then a recap of the same thing for another hour and an hour for results. Thats almost as much time as Jay Leno is going to take up.
After the initial auditions, I don't really need to see the acts 4 more times. And the prize is all wrong. Most of these acts would never sustain an hour long show in Vegas, but that doesn't mean they aren't talented. And if the prize is an act in Vegas then children should not even be allowed to compete. The average singers bore me, and dance groups don't take that much talent. Just practice.

I don't think he ever said the sisters were going home. He said that Drew Stevyns was going through and everybody just assumed the sisters were going home because that's what the pattern was.

The dog was different - the interview with the lady clearly said so.
I think the judges got it wrong on the decision for the last spot - there's no way those kids are going to headline Vegas with that dance act. It's cute, but they're kids. Mia has a much better chance of raising herself to a serious act.

Then don't watch the "recap" show - it's not as if they're going to start the results show early. (Also, each results show is re-aired before the next week's performance show. It's more a case of "NBC has nothing else to show" than anything else.

"The prize" is one million dollars (assuming you're willing to wait 40 years for the whole thing; the "lump sum" option is obviously less). The Vegas show is more of an afterthought; besides, this is the show's fourth season, and the first and third winners didn't get their own Vegas shows (especially as the first winner was something like 11 years old at the time).
Besides, (a) the winner doesn't get a "permanent" show like Terry Fator has (although nothing is stopping a hotel from hiring the winner after the planned show is done), and (b) there will be other acts in it (so the winner having an act that can't carry 90 minutes won't be a problem) - here is the blurb from the Planet Hollywood Hotel website:
"The hit NBC series "America's Got Talent" is coming to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino as a new live stage show. Complete with a celebrity host, it will be headlined by this year's million dollar winning act, as well as showcase the most popular performers seen on the television show."
Ticketmaster lists a 10-week run (one show a night except on Monday and Tuesday, plus a second Saturday (matinee) show, from 10/7 through 12/13).

I feel the last two weeks had much better acts than the first two weeks. There were easily two or three acts from the last two weeks that could (or would) have gone through in the first two weeks that got cut.
To me the biggest was the Bollywood dancers. I couldn't believe they did not make it through.

I wouldn't pay squat to watch any of these people in Las Vegas.

I haven't watched any of this week's episodes yet, but for the first time recorded the recap show -- because it aired on an "off" channel and I wasn't sure if one or both were going to air. (8-9 PM on cable channel 6, NOT NBC, aired what I guess is the recap show.. 10-11PM on NBC aired the results show.)
I did FF through a bit quickly to see if it was the same episode (I was thinking MAYBE the NBC one was going to be preempted, so they 'cautiously' aired it on the alternate channel.. nope).
Anyway -- do they always do the 'live host' for a recap show? In other words, they actually do extra work to do a recap show??

Since the results show is going to air live in an hour, it's really not much work to do a live bumper on the recap show...
I've never paid much attention to the recap, since I TiVo the live performance show and then FF through the banter.

I watch the performance show, then roll right into the results show, and just delete the recap show.
