View Full Version : Delayed channel change

Hi all

This has me flummoxed

Suddenly, my Tivo has started changing Sky channels between 15 and 20 MINUTES after it's started a scheduled recording

At the start of the recording, the Sky box sits on whatever channel it's currently on

Then, some considerable time later I see that channel change digits and Sky switches to the new channel

But, of course, I have lost the first 15-20 minutes of my program

I'll be trying a reboot of both Tivo and the Sky box later tonight, but in the meantime does anyone have any thoughts??

Thanks

Phil G

That would be my first suggestion.

If that doesn't work, maybe one of your background processes, TiVoWeb etc aren't being properly backgrounded and are causing a slowdown.

If there is a rogue IR signal flying around (I used to get one from an IR transmitter but some lights give them off too) then TiVo will wait until it sees an opportunity to send the channel change commands.

This has been seen to take 10+ minutes.

I did wonder about that, but I am using a Sky Eye and NOT the IR blasters

Anyway, I did reboot both Sky and Tivo - not conclusive yet, but I think the problem is fixed

Of course, now I don't know WHICH reboot fixed it :(

Tivo will still wait if it senses stray IR in the room though (presumably from the front sensor).

I did wonder about that, but I am using a Sky Eye and NOT the IR blastersThe TiVo won't know the difference, and the stray IR could come from many other sources, including from a video sender if you are using one.
