I'm a bit confused on what my options are and what plans are available should I decide to upgrade one of my Tivo's. First I'll list what I have and what it says at Tivo.com about Current/Future plans.

1. Tivo HD - $12.95/mo (Tivo monthly, no future plan)
2. SD-400 - $6.95/mo (Tivo Monthly, Qualifies for MSD)
3. Tivo S3 - $6.95/mo (But says scheduled plan is $9.95 2/2010 no commitment)

I guess the first question is about my S3, it says the scheduled plan is $9.95 on 2/2010. Any way to avoid that increase? My plan is to replace the Toshiba SD-400 with an HD, and convert the SD-400 back to Tivo Basic (for the kids).

I probably need to call Tivo, but thought that I would look here and ask the question prior to calling them. I'm thinking I should buy and HD (not from Tivo) then replace the Toshiba service at Tivo.com. I guess the bottom line is if I can get another HD and keep to $12.95+$6.95+6.95, and for how long can I keep it.

Thanks for the help.

You should be able to just go to tivo.com and switch TSNs from your SDH400 to your new box and keep the 6.95 MSD if you don't buy the box from TiVo.

As long as you buy your TiVo from somewhere other than TiVo.com, you can simply do a TSN swap at TiVo.com to maintain your current rates.
