I know this is a long shot - but I've got a hacked tivo in the UK - and i'm trying to watch it via a slingbox whilst on holiday...
The problem is i've got is the sky box has "There is a technical issue..." on the screen - which can sometimes be resolved by turning the sky box off and on again...
Is there any way to get the tivo to send the code (via the IR blaster) to turn the sky box off and on again ?
(I've got a command line etc)
I've tried via the TivoWeb 'sendkeys' - but this seems to turn the tivo off when you press the power key :-)

No there is not as far as I am aware although logically it obviously could be done through a hack.
The simple solution to the problem you are suffering from that I implemented several years ago is to have your Sky box on a timer that puts it off at five in the morning for a couple of minutes every day and then have a short manual recording just after the off period to turn it on again so it is ready for use.
I personally also do the same thing with the Tivo box itself as I also found they can get a software hang eventually after several months use. Although people assured me it would shorten the lives of two Tivo my hard drives all I can say is that the two Samsung HA250JC drives in my Tivo are now both over four years old and still running fine.
I implemented the above solution purely because if I went away for say three weeks I couldn't guarantee my Sky box or the Tivo would not eventually suffer a hang of the kind you mention. But introducing the timer solution ensure they will not lose recordings for more than a 24 hour period while I am away.

Does that matter, since tivo is never really "off" as far as recording is concerned ?
You could just send standby twice, then the tivo button...
