I seem to be having an issue with either my Sony TV or the Tivo HD Series 3 switching from 720p to 1080i. I'm not sure if it's a TIVO issue or a TV issue. I can be watching one program that comes through at 1080i, flip to a different channel and when I come back to the original program that used to be 1080i, it's now 720p. I'm on FIOS. Can someone tell me what's going on?

It is possible that the resolution is not changing improperly at all. There is a glitch that causes the TiVo to sometimes report the resolution of the previous channel tuned rather than the current.

Don't depend on the info bar to correctly report the right resolution. If you flip through channels quickly, the TiVo will periodically display the resolution from the previous channel. That has nothing to do with the actual output resolution.

When you are changing channels, the banner will show the resolution from the previous channel. IE: CBS at 720p and you change to ABC @ 1080i. The banner will still show the CBS's resolution.

You can view the actual resolution on the Tivo banner if you have just changed channels and want to see the current resolution, while the banner is still on screen, press down once then back up once.
