Wanting to move back to a TiVo HD but just curious how picture quailty is these days? I know cablevisionhas added a bunch HD such as TCM, Speed, G4 tv and E! How are they much micro blocking? How about locals as well?

Thanks

Well according to some posts in dslreports, the hd pic quality is not that hot. If any other existing CV customer would care to comment, it would be helpful.

thanks - saw those reports (I started a thread at dsl as well) BUT I figured maybe TiVo made the video a tad better (hey you never know...) also figured I would get a better answer here :-)

I would say that it is acceptable. Locals are are generally great, ESPN and local sports (Yes, MSG) are pretty good, the rest are mostly OK. Macro blocking has become almost non-existent, with Cablevision getting rid of a bunch of analogs and with the latest TiVo software.

With that said I would jump to FIOS in a second for better picture if I could.

I live in a Blue state (AT&T) and in my town no U-Verse for a while I'd say... and not sure I would want it anyway?!

I have DirecTV now and its GREAT but over the past few years a LOS issue that i can not correct anymore is making it "useless".

I wish CV would add the Smithsonian Channel :-)

The quality of my picture hasn't been great. As a matter of fact, I have my third visit from a Cablevision tech this weekend to see how they can correct the problem. I have stuttering audio, pixelation and screen freezes (enough to make it annoying).

Sadly, this only started happening when the tech put a new splitter behind the wall plate (we have one cablevision box that wasn't grabbing an IP, prompting the replacement splitter).

I have fresh feeds coming into each room with a TiVo from the pole... so i hope this doesn't effect me...

Is it a 2 way spliter?

It's a 3 way actually.. one for each TV and one for the phone/internet adapter.

They actually replaced some of the cable inside our place but we live in a co-op, and they said the wiring "isn't great" going in. I don't know if replacing it is even a possibility (I believe the wiring is underground).

Doesn't sound like you should have a problem though!

can you have the modem/phone adapter closer to the point of entry and have them add a 2nd lcable run to that location? that would allow a 2-way spliter...
