I have been a long time lurker and can usually find all my questions answered here via search before having to post.

I just ordered my second Tivo HD and 1Tb drive upgrade. I learned from here how to do the install from the faqs ( which are extremely helpful )

I was worried about losing OTA line signal off my single attic antenna ( large multi ) when splitting to the second Tivo HD. I learned much more here than I bargained for about signal noise and things. My deductions after hours of very informative info was to just try the splitter first and see how bad the signal degrades between the two units since they are the only ones using the antenna. If it does since I already had great reception (99-100) on all the channels I would try an amp.

The questions that I could not find was... what happens if I am recording 4 shows at once using all 4 tuners? Will the signal degrade even further?

I learned a lot of things I took for granted guys ... Thanks for all the useful info and keep up the good work!

No! And I am unanimous in that!

Also, just FYI, an ideal 2-way splitter will drop the signal 3 dB, a factor of two in power. Actual splitters will probably drop a little more. Unfortunately AFAIK the signal strength numbers in the TiVo are not in dB, although I think they are in the same ballpark. If you're starting at 99-100 you should be fine. As you may know, the recommended range is 80-99.

Rare, but it can happen, and it works fine. As admonished, um, mentioned, be sure to use high-quality splitters and coax (new end-to-end if possible) and life should be good.
