I have a TIVO HD purchased in November of 2007. A 1TB hard drive was installed by the seller at that time and all worked fine for about a year. Now I have to restart the TIVO every week (more or less) because my to do list indicates that the shows didn't record because the 'channel was not found' and live TV doesn't work - the screen is gray or sometimes black. I reset and restarted the TIVO several times and it works for about a week before the problem recurs. I have Time Warner Cable expanded, but not HD or cable card. Anyone else having this problem or know what's wrong?

If you're using TWC cable without cablecards, you're very likely using analog cable. In that case, you're running into a bug in the 11.X software.

There have been a number of threads on this issue -- for a good summary, check out the following: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=7097497#post7097497

Unfortunately, although Tivo has acknowledged this problem, they have not provided any encouragement if and when it might get fixed. I have held off replacing my Series 2 Tivos with Tivo HD's since my cable company (Charter) still uses analog transmission for their enhanced basic channels. :(

I solved the problem: I unplugged the TIVO HD and removed the 3V Lithium Battery on the mother board, waited 10 minutes and replaced it with a new one. I later tested the old battery and it was fine – so that wasn’t the problem. The RAM apparently needed to be reset. The TIVO is now working better than it has in over a year or even since I owned it. The formatting is better and the functions and features work better. It’s been working now for over two weeks with no problems.
