HI

I have been having this problem since I first got my HD Tivo but I decided to live with it. I am finally fed up with it though. On my network channels, NBC, ABC, CBS, they are all fuzzy. All my other channels are perfectly clear. I figured once they switched the signals to digital these channels would come in clear. That is not the case. I used to think the problem was because I had a splitter, but I took that out, and still with the single cable coming in to the box, nothing. The channels are really hard to watch some times. I really want to get this figured out before The Office is back on. BTW I have no cable card, just a regular cable subscription.

I assume you are referring to your cable company's analog locals? Analog locals, especially the lower numbers, are subject to more interference than higher numbered analogs. If you don't have a CableCard, then it's unlikely you are getting the digital versions unless (a) you did a channel scan and added the QAM numbers without guide data, or (b) added an off-air antenna to integrate HD locals with your cable channels.

If you are still viewing analog locals, I would suggest you add CableCard to get the digital versions and/or add an off-air antenna to get the locals in HD. If Antennaweb.org (http://www.antennaweb.org) says that you live less than 15 miles from your networks, you might try this $11.99 antenna (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103077) from Radio Shack.

Locals in HD from an off-air antenna

If you're talking about digital channels, and you are using a HDTV, make sure your TiVo is set to fixed 1080i or fixed 720p under Settings -> Video -> Video Output format.

If you are receiving the HD channels via QAM, then it is possible that your provider is recompressing and degrading their HD feeds. You would have to compare the feeds from an off-air antenna to determine that.
