View Full Version : TiVo Stuck at 92%

I put this in the more appropriate TiVo Help Section, meaning to delete it from here, but the Edit/Delete button just edits (no delete option), so I apologize for the duplicate posting.

I got back the TiVo HD whose external drive went clackety-clack. Essentially, the drive was divorced and remarried to a working external drive, and what's left are any recordings that were intact in the main box. (Oh well.)

In the interim, a system update had been published, so the first call in to TiVo ended up installing 11.0d (I think). No big shakes. The second call in resulted in downloading the next two weeks of programming. (Between shipping back and forth and the repair, the schedule was tapped out.)

But here's where it got weird: The progress stuck at 92% (for about a couple hours). This alone is no big deal; it has happened before, and usually resolves after resetting the TiVo, noting that there is a "Failed. Unrecoverable error" in the Phones/Network screen, and forcing another call. This time, instead of succeeding, the progress once again stopped at 92%.

I'm going to try the following: Unplug and replug (as opposed to soft reset) and/or unplugging the Wireless USB Adapter as well as the Tuning Adapter while restarting (soft or hard). (The latter was recommended by TiVo.) I dislike hard resets because it feels like I'm catching the unit off-guard while it's doing something, indexing or what not, so maybe I'll try unplugging the USB stuff during a soft reset first.

The question is, if these don't work (and I'm not overly optimistic), is it worth doing a KickStart 57 or 58? Or would a Repeated Guided Setup be more productive (or destructive)? Despite the stuckness, the TiVo works fine: The schedule is intact, the recordings proceed without problem, and you can watch anything, live or recorded (as is expected since TiVo call-ins/loading are supposed to be transparent.) Thanks in advance for any help!

1) Pull the plug and see what happens
2) Try not to overthink the problem
3) Posting it once is sufficient

Well, it stopped after the first plug. Sorry for the dramatics. :-}
