View Full Version : Comcast Cablecard Issue Solved

I just purchased a HD TiVo box and went to Comcast to get a Multi-stream card or two single stream cards. I was informed they only have Multi-stream cards. Plugged it in and went through setup....TiVo box said it was a single stream card. Wife went back to Comcast...left without card since they insisted it was a Multi-stream card. Went back to Comcast to get a second card. Plugged it in...viola...it's a multi-stream card. But alas...many channels didn't show up. Called Comcast...made appointment for service...no show..no call. Multiple calls and emails to Comcast...they'd have to send a technician out...even though I couldn't figure out what a technician could do, since it seems everything is controlled by the office. Kept calling and finally got a call from a Cablecard guru who fixed it all in a few minutes. All that to say that if you have having Comcast problems keep "Dialing for Channels." There is someone out there who can fix it.

Question on the first (single stream) cable card. Did it actually say "M-Card" or "Multistream Card" (and did the second one as well)?
I mention this because the first cablecard install I had done the installer insisted it was an M-Card (despite the Tivo saying otherwise), when I got the second one it said "M-Card" very obviously on it.
