Gday

I am now officially bald having ripped all of my hair out trying to get the Tivo and Dlink to talk to each other.

Steps I have taken to date.

1. Plugged wired cable into router
2. Plugged wired cable into tivo
3. Typed ipconfig /all (Only my Pc Showed)
4. Rebooted Router
5. Rebooted Tivo
6. Shutdown all PC's connected to the router
7. Tried to find connection from Tivo with PC's Shutdown

Still no joy, hence my baldness ( not a good look on a woman )

I do believe that the DLink needs a port opened for the Tivo to find it.

The question is which one?

I have run tech2home, they have told me about the port issue and DLink routers, they advised me to ring DLink, which I did.

DLink were unable to help me as the Tivo is not one of there products.

HELP ME PLEASE!!

Ok just port forwarded

What message to you get when you go to the Phone & network screen and chose network? You did tell your Tivo you want to use the network, right?

If you are using a Tivo without a built in Ethernet jack, which USB adpater are you using?

And when you go into the Phone & network screen on the Tivo, and chose to connect to a network, do you get an error message?

Sorry, don't recall off the top of my head what the error numbers mean. If you can provide the text with the error messages, perhaps someone we help.

You receive this error message: No DHCP server (N02).

This means no DHCP server could not be located on your network.

If the DHCP server is part of your home network, check it is turned on and properly configured. If you are using a wired network, check that your Ethernet cable is securely connected.

If you're using an encrypted wireless network, check that your network password (WEP key) is correct.

You receive this error message: Gateway not found (N07).

This means your gateway (router) could not be found. See Connecting to a wireless home network.

I am not trying to connect to a wireless network

Are you using MAC filtering on the router? If you are, did you add the Tivo's MAC to the authorized list.

Cant see MAC filtering on my routers page, so unless its an auto thing no.

I have emailed tivo they have responded :-
There are no known compatibility issues with DLink products.

On the IP address screen, you should choose the option which best matches your router's current configuration. Please report if DHCP is enabled on your router.

I responded :-
Yes DHCP is enabled please attached word doc which is a screenshot (have to zip it)
