I have a Toshiba 40XF355DB LCD TV.

I am trying to program my Tivo remote to control the TV audio.

I tried the remote codes suggested by the Tivo guide for Toshiba and none of them worked.

Any suggestions for modern TVs?

I haven't used the TiVo remote for years, I switched to a Logitech Harmony 885 (now using a Harmony One) and never looked back.

Get a Tivo glo remote. They have a learning mode for volume control (and a couple of other keys) so you can use it with almost any TV.

You probably want 0205 - that's what my Tosh 46ZF355DB uses (and the Tosh rear proj. before it).

Are you doing it right?

On the remote, press and hold "Tivo" and then press and hold "Standby" (as per the on-screen instructions - "Mute" also works, as per the handbook).

The red LED above the Tivo button will light. Release both buttons. LED will stay lit.

Enter 0205 using the numerics on the remote - note, must be all 4 digits

LED will blink a few times and then go out.

Press the "Mute" button and your TV should register the press.

Hope this helps. Should work; the XFs were released just before mine so I don't see why they wouldn't use the "normal" Tosh TV codes.

Must add that the Harmony One is good with Tivos and for Tosh tellies allows access to the discrete codes to allow you to switch to a particular HDMI or SCART input without having to press either "Input" or "OK" and select from the list.

Thanks for the suggestion of the code. I am following the instructions but, sadly, no luck - it still doesn't work.

As for the advice around using the Harmony Remote. I have one - a model 885 so that should work. If I can be bothered to stick with it. I have had it for months but had to blow the dust of it just now to look at the model number!

I have just bought a Panasonic DMR-BS850 Freesat High Def Blu-Ray Writer. So once Harmony has the codes for that, I will start to use it.

Its says a lot for the TIVO that I replaced my DVD Writer, My Blu-Ray Player and my Sky+ box with the BS850 but still kept my trusty old TIVO. I just love the interface - shame other manufacturers dont license it in the UK.
