SATA 1.5Gb/s or 3.0Gb/s ?

Wanting to replace the drive in my TCD-540040 Series 2 Tivo DVR, I have a choice of these two types. Which one should I choose? SATA 1.5Gb/s or 3.0Gb/s.

The current drive is a Maxtor 3.5 series, DiamondMax Plus 8, ATA/133 HDD. (attached image)

The folks at DVRUPGRADE says that a SATA drive will behave like a PATA drive with the SATA to PATA/IDE adaptor installed.

Series 2 requires a PATA/IDE drive. Only the Series 3 and TivoHD models use SATA drives.
