I have spent all day yesterday dealing with Tivo and I am tired. They won't help me with this which is the last issue (my friend the tech support guru actually fixed the issue and not Tivo but I feel too guilty to ask him again for help).
When I go to play a video it opens windows media player but it "encounters a problem and needs to close" so I don't get to watch anything. I have tried other players but nothing works (I went to the file and right clicked, went to open with, and then chose a different player).
I downloaded k-lite codec and some windows pack codec. I am running windows xp, WMP 11, an Tivo desktop 2.6.2 (the 2.7 doesn't work and had to downgrade).
I tried downloading the codec that is pinned at the top of this forum. But I don't know what to do with it. I see the four files and have no idea what to do from there. I am not that suave. This isn't my specialty.
Please help? I don't know what to do and somehow I don't think Microsoft is going to help me but just throw it back to Tivo.
