This is the way to start a burnoff, with an episode that wastes an hour of everybody's time. Thanksgiving in July, no less. As this episode progressed, I was wondering if the chauffeur character would be so stupid. I am glad that was not the case, but it still seemed like a rather pointless filler episode. It was interesting to see the missing sister suddenly pop back into the (fabricated) story.

If I wanted to watch The Usual Suspects, I'd watch The Usual Suspects.

Wha? This is back on?

Yes, it is. For three more Saturdays, I think. I kinda like this way of burning off unaired episodes from cancelled shows.

Nice to see Samaire Armstrong again. And nice to see that Karl is no dummy.

From what I understand, everyone involved knew this was going to be the last season so they *supposedly* brought everything to a conclusion. The murder will be solved.

So this will hopefully be more than just burned off episodes. For those that care! ;)

I actually like this show. I thought it might hang on for a few seasons... But what the hell do I know! :D

I think that has got to be the first time that a burn-off episode was also a clip show.

This ep was originally supposed to run back in Thanksgiving time but was preempted for some reason (too tired to check right now). It's a slightly decent way to start the burn off to at least regurgitate where things stood, sort of.

I don't know if I'd call this episode a clip show. I thought all of that stuff was new, and as we found out in the last two minutes, totally bogus. I suppose the reporter's questions acted as the "clip show" part of it.

The credits listed several (8 or so) different writers and a similarly large number of directors, which was a further indicator to me of the clipshowiness of the episode.

(And yes, I just invented a word. Deal with it. :) )

It's almost as if these were all clips from shows that were meant to be actual plotlines, but then they abandoned them all when they rewrote the overall story so that they could come to some kind of proper conclusion at the end of their truncated run, but they still wanted to get some kind of return on their invenstment in all that footage, so they used them as the fake stories that Keyser Soz--er, Karl told the reporter.

I sure hope this is on my DVR and I just didn't see it...I'll be very annoyed if it's not there but will make sure the next 2 are recorded...

Well, A) You didn't miss much, and 2) since all the events in the episode were declared to be imaginary, you can watch the subsequent episodes without any continuity problems.

... here's what I think was going on with this completely insane episode. Nikki Finke reported in her column a while back that DSM had a revolving door of showrunners for a while. In fact, the network actually junked three full episodes that were supposed to start Season Two, then started over again with a new showrunner. I suspect that this episode was a way to repurpose the unseen material from those three episodes, framed with a two-character, one-set scene that was probably shot in a single day. The reason these storylines are all presented as "imaginary" is that they were abandoned by the network. You have to give them credit for absolute shamelessness -- it's a terrible episode, but at least it's cost-effective!

If you missed it because you cancelled your season pass (as I had done), you can watch it on ABC.com. Connected by laptop to my TV and watched it in High Def.

I actually liked it.....I see it as a filler episode, but reaquainted us with the characters. It was a wasted episode since nothing Karl said really happened, but as I said, having not seen it in so long, we at least got to get reaquainted with the characters.....but of course, only for 2 more episodes.

Yeah, I found it online. Thankfully.

Only got through 1/2 of it. It definitely seems out of place.

But where does the "imaginary" part come into play, or is that revealed at the end of the episode?

It's revealed at the end of the episode.
