Since I don't see any threads, I thought I'd do what rarely happens and drop in to report everything's working great! :D
I replaced a battalion of DirecTiVo units with a platoon of TiVo HDs backed by Verizon FiOS. The installation couldn't have been more smooth, the setup was fast and the units have been rock solid. Maybe I'm tempting fate by posting only a month into my new setup (especially with two WD500 expander units), but I had to share. Honestly, DirecTV doesn't know what they are missing; if they'd just played nice with TiVo, I'd be a subscriber for life, but I'd rather have these awesome HD TiVos than satellite.
In addition, I'd like to thank TCF. I've saved myself a ton of dumb questions by simply reading everything here, including the CableCARD and Verizon FiOS threads. When the installer came, I was well prepared and able to ask him for a sampling of attenuators and to quickly hand over the "cheat sheet" (which he didn't need because he asked me to do the TiVo part). Y'all are awesome.
