The system screen is indicating this is normal, but it may be a bit higher than a typical S2DT I have seen posted here.

The unit has a 2nd hard drive kit from Weaknees, but the internal fan is failing (making buzzing noise) I tried to replace the fan with a similar fan found at a local store (Frys) but the new fan is pretty noisy so I decided to just remove the internal fan altogether.

The result is much quieter Tivo, but hotter by ~3-5C in the last week.
Anyone running S2DT hotter than 52C? I am planning to swap this one with a TivoHD eventually, but I don't want a premature failure.

That sounds high to me even though it says normal - all 3 of my S2DTs run in the 40s. In any case, I would NOT recommend running a device that was designed for a fan without one. Since the S2DT was never designed to house a 2nd hard drive that just makes things worse.

Today the internal temp is up to 54C, still normal.

I will go as long as I can without a 2nd fan. I don't expect this unit to last forever.
