Started guided setup but don't want to finish. Is there any way to get out?
Unplugging doesn't do it. Any "secret" keystrokes?

The only way out is to let it finish.
It requires 2 connections and hopefully you are in a position to let it connect and complete.

You have to complete guided setup before you can do anything else. You don't need to have your coax or cable connected to go through guided setup, but you do need to have one of the following: a phone line, ethernet connection, or wireless adapter (with a home wireless network).

Indeed, this is correct. My problem is that the Tivo hangs upon completion of setup. In the process of changing a capacitor in the power supply now, hope it helps.
But yes, guided setup must complete to proceed.

I've got the same problem, and I think my hard drive(s) might be failing. My Tivo hangs during the "Preparing to Connect" stage (the second one that is supposed to last 20-40 minutes). I've tried multiple times and even left it at that point overnight. Does anyone know if anything is happening if the pinwheel stops spinning?
