New Tivo user here. Can someone please explain why transfers are stopping at about 13%? I've successfully transferred (1) one hour HD show. When I try and transfer a 2 hour HD show, it fails - every time! I have a Vista PC with HD Tivo and the wireless adapter. I tried rolling back from 2.7 (never worked) to 2.6.2. I've done the Tivo cleaner, un-install, re-install and nothing works. I guess I will have to go back to a stand-a-lone dvd burner because this just doesn't work. Please give me suggestions. I've been on the phone multiple times with Tivo and nothing changes.

Thanks.

Check the program you're attempting to download on the TiVo itself. Is there a video breakup around the 14-16 minute mark? If so then that's the reason this program wont transfer.

The way TiVoToGo works is before it sends the video to your PC it has to remux the audio/video data from TiVo's internal format to a standard MPEG program stream. This happens on the TiVo itself as the program is being transferred. Unfortunately their muxer is not very robust so if it hits a bad spot in the video it can fail and simply stop the transfer. This is a known issue that we all have been complaining about for years.

Thanks Dan. I just checked video and didn't see a break up. Nice to see you are a developer for Video ReDo. I just bought a copy thinking this is what I needed. Your software works great but TIVO doesn't. Is there another program out there that I can use to transfer the video so I don't have to buy a DVD burner/player for the TV?

Do you have any sort of firewall or antivirus software installed? Some programs like Kaspersky are known to halt (cancel) transfers after 2048MB or 4096MB.

See the Downloading Recordings (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=7097289#post7097289) FAQ for more information and the fix.

In KIS 2009 I had added anything that said tivo in it and also bonjour.
Still wouldn't work.

I just updated to Kaspersky 2010 today and used interactive training.

Don't forget Bonjour! (in the services NOT applications area)
Your PC NEEDS it to discover the DVR's on your network.
You also NEED Curl.exe (I think this is the one people forgot about)
This is a program TivoDesktop uses.
I cleared this thru KIS2010 and I just transferred (8pm 7/7/09) a 6124MB file with no problems.

Watch your firewall. Chances are, one of the above programs does not have the permissions that it needs.

I do have Kaspersky AV installed. I'll try and disable. I also tried through the web browser as you suggested. All I get is a congratulations, you are connected to Tivo page. Did they break the access by web? I stopped the Tivo server, processes and re-started the Tivo.

Update to Kaspersky 2010. You are allowed 1 free upgrade (hopefully) you haven't upgraded yet. Uninstall your old KIS and install the new KIS. Do not use automatic, use interactive learning. Start up Tivo desktop and begin to transfer a file. I think 4 .exe files will need to be trusted. 3 exe files are tivoblabhblabhblah.exe. Add them to trusted. Curl.exe should come up, add to trusted....in options check "do not scan" inbound.

If you have to and can't/don't want to update. You will have to go thru your applications list in KIS firewall. anything with a tivo should be okay, you NEED bonjour (service not application) and curl.exe

I was able to get it working overnight. I have Kaspersky Antivirus, not Kaspersky Internet Security. I went to settings, threats and exclusions and added the following three applications to the trusted zone.
1. Tivo Desktop User Interface
2. Tivo Notify Service Process
3. Tivo Transfer Service Process.

Under each section you can check three more options. I checked them all (not sure if this leaves me un-protected from other threats.

1. Do not scan opened files.
2. Do not monitor application activity
3. Do not scan network traffic.

I'll try it again tonight. Hopefully it will work again. Thanks for all of your help.
