I have an HD TiVo with one multistream cable card from RCN in Chicago. I have an "old" tube TV that is HD compatible, but not an HDTV.

I was gone for a long weekend and came home to find that none of the HD channels I receive work. All HD channels look scrambled, although I can hear the audio fine. I also cannot see any TiVo banners, guide, etc. When I change to a non-HD channel everything is just fine.

This is also happening to any Netflix programs in HD. I cannot watch any Netflix program that is HD, but I can hear the sound.

I've had this TiVo since Christmas and everything has worked fine (including HD channels and Netflix) and just stopped working sometime this weekend.

Any help would be truly appreciated. Is it an RCN issue? a TiVo issue? Is there something I should hook up differently? Thanks!

Since it is happening on Netflix, I'd say it is not an RCN issue. Have you tried pulling the power cord on the Tivo for 30 seconds, plugging it back in, and then seeing how it works after it boots up? If its still scrambled, I'd contact Tivo support as it sounds like a hardware problem. Hopefully, the reboot will cure everything.

I would guess that your TiVo got switched into the wrong output mode. Many older TVs cannot accept a 720p signal, so if you accidentally switch your TiVo into native or hybrid mode, you'll see nothing but scrambled video on HD channels.

Tune a HD channel. Then press the FORMAT button on the TivoHD front panel until you see a picture. Note it will take a few seconds for your TV to sync to the new resolution, so give your TV 5-10 seconds after each press of the FORMAT on button.

THANK YOU! I had no idea that button was there. I had restarted a couple of time and changing that button to fixed worked perfectly. I am so glad I didn't delete that programs I had recorded in HD, because they work fine now too!

Thanks again for your help!
