No Tivo Desktop when TIVO button pressed

I have a series 2 Tivo that was working quite well. Then last week it stopped responding to the TIVO button. The Tivo unit responds to the Live, Info, Guide, and VCR controls without issue. The only button that seems to not work is the "TIVO" button. I have tried another remote and the unit responds the same, no "TIVO" button operation. Anyone else seen this behavior?

Could be the remote is having trouble. Do you see the led on the front panel responding to the TiVo button press?

Try pressing "left" to get into the menus.

Pull the Tivo's power plug for 30 seconds for force a reboot. See if that cures the problem.

Could be the remote is having trouble.He said he tried another remote and the same thing happened. It think this means the Tivo is at fault.

If you can get to the System Information screen, try a couple of remote commands there. There's a number of different TiVo remote models out there, and they send different signals for some buttons; possibly the TiVo got mixed up as to your remote. When on the System Info screen, the TiVo tries to reset the idea of the remote to the current remote. That being said, I've never heard of the TiVo button being different - it's normally Info, List, Live TV, and Guide buttons that suddenly stop working.

If you can't get to System Information, pulling the plug is the best you can do.
