View Full Version : FIOS local HD channel basically unwatchable, HELP!

Hello all,
This problem just started a few weeks ago...
My local HD channels (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, WB, UPN) started to "cut out" (pixelated, not grey screen) on us while we were watching and are basically unwatchable. All recording are very messed up. When it happens the sound goes off and the picture kinda freezes for a sec. The channels are fine for about the fine 10 secs and then this problem starts to happen.

I have 2 S-Cards in my Tivo and I just checked last night that I have v11c on my tivo.

I have done a hard and soft reboot, but doesn't fix the problem.

Is the Verizon FIOS problem or my Tivo S3? All other HD channels seem to be fine (actually they look great).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

It pretty much has to be caused by a Verizon change - your TiVo is not going to treat the local HD channels any differently from others.

That being said, have you checked the SNR or attenuation threads? Verizon could have increased the signal power for the local HD channels (since they come from a different source than the national channels), and thus caused problems for the TiVo.

I'd call Verizon and see if they can offer any ideas. As I said, the fact that it's locals only indicates that Verizon has done something.

Ok thanks! I will have my wife call this morning.
I did check that thread out, and I did check the SNR number. It is between 32 and 35. They mentioned that the "ideal" number is 31. But that is for everything right? Not just one channel. So if I get that attenuation and attach it will it effect the other HD channels that look great!

A software update is rolling out that will apparently fix most issues with FIOS so you do not need attenuation. If it still is doing this after the software update, then I would say you have some type of signal issue that Verizon needs to look at.

My guess is it will rollout in the next week or so. It has already been sent out to a few people already and a full rollout usually happens 2 weeks after that.
