Hey all, I noticed that others have reported grey screens on a Tivo series 3 Hd. I was one of the few that never had any tuning issues on my tivo until recently I noticed a few channels no longer work that used to work ok. The one thing I am not able to find here in this board was a solution that fixes this problem.

Here is what I have done so far and try and fix the issue. My tivo series 3 HD has 11.b software installed. The channels are all over 100 on my digital cable.

1) called comcast. They re-sent the programming to my dual cable cards. No change.
2) restarted the tivo (multiple times) including pulling the power. no change.
3) connected to the Tivo service and downloaded data. no change.

So what's next steps? Comcast is sending a tech out in a week with new cable cards. Is this a 100% tivo problem that hopefully will be fixed by a software update?

Thanks. Doug in CT.

I had the same issue with my TivoHD and Time Warner cable. I called them and they did something remotely to the cable cards and it worked again. I only get it on a few channels mostly HD channels.

I get this issue a few times a month :(

If it's the same small number of channels all the time, then it's very unlikely to be a TiVo problem. The only circumstance I can think of is if you have a bad hardware tuner that often can't receive a specific frequency range.

People have problems like this all the time, and it's the cable channel info from the cable provider that's wrong. TiVo is more susceptible to bad PSIP info than other receivers, and that is sometimes the problem. But more often it is just info from your account at the cable company that is wrong - the cable company is sending the wrong info to your cable card.

So a software upgrade is unlikely to help. But are you sure you have 11.0b software and not 11.0c (or even d)? If you're still on b, then you may have some other more serious problem!

Crispy, thanks for the post. I may be on .c , to be honest having my 2 year old son freaking out while I was navigating around the tivo menu this morning to get some info didn't help. One of the channels we watch all the time that has some of his children programs is one of the Grey not working channels.

As you can imagine were at Defcon 5 in my house right now unless I can get this fixed soon ;>
