View Full Version : Audio/Video out of sync on iPod conversion from TiVo Desktop Plus v2.7

I'm running Tivo Desktop Plus v2.7 on a Windows XP machine and convert the recordings for iTunes/iPod (actually an original model iPhone).
The audio is out of sync with the video, but only in the iTunes version. The regular Tivo Desktop file (Windows media?) plays fine.
I've looked throughout the forums and, while many people have encountered similar problems, there doesn't seem to be a solution so far.
Any new leads? Should I remove v2.7 and go back to an older version?

There is a solution - it's called VideoRedo. The problem is mpeg2 files offloaded from Series 3 Tivos can often have glitches/problems that result in A/V sync issues when trying to encode to a different format. VideoRedo Quick Stream Fix fixes such issues.
With Tivo Desktop flow you cannot really use VideoRedo in the mix, so if you do decide to try the trial version of VideoRedo and/or purchase it then you will also need to look at alternatives to VideoRedoTivo Desktop such as TVAP or kmttg which have good integration of VideoRedo.

I think moyekj meant to say "alternatives to TiVo Desktop". For TVAP, see the link in my signature. kmttg has the TTG download function and the mpeg4 encoding functions built in. TVAP requires you to use either Desktop or TiVoPlaylist for the TTG download and automatically runs a user-supplied batch file to do the mpeg4 encoding, e.g., using HandBrake. TVAP does have a handy semi-automatic mode where it allows you to manually review/adjust commercial cuts (done automatically by VideoReDo or ComSkip) before continuing automatic processing of the file.
