Record via text message...

So, is there a good way to record shows via text message from a cell phone? I've read a little about Kwiry, but haven't signed up for it yet. Is there another way... or perhaps better way that we know of?

I don't know of any way to record via text message. I think most people just use http://m.tivo.com/.

m.tivo.com is lean, mean, quick and quite effective. I've used it DOZENS of times in the last few months. Last thing I scheduled this way: "The Whale that Exploded."

Yes, I use the m.tivo.com site when on my ipod touch... but I do not use the internet when on my cell phone. I read that http://www.kwiry.com/ does it.

I don't have any experience with it (I'm a m.tivo.com user too) but it does look like kwiry will do what you're asking:

You have to link your TiVo online account to your kwiry account. I have no idea how this works if you have multiple TiVos and it probably only sets a single recording, with no options to create a Season Pass, change recording options, etc.

I had no idea that m.tivo.com existed. Exactly what I've been looking for. :)

I usually use m.tivo.com from my desktop too since its so much faster than the regular tivo site.

m.tivo.com is still buggy though. It doesn't seem to do searches quite right, and misses shows.

I was looking for NYC Prep or something (um, for my wife), and m.tivo.com couldn't find it, but every other search could, including my Tivo when I got home.

Weird.

But overall it's pretty good, and it works even better on an iPhone/iTouch (presumably any Safari instance).
