From a networked Series II Now Playing List, cannot see the Now Playing List on Series 3, on same network. I have 3 SeriesII tivos and a Series 3 HD. The Series 3 designator shows up on the Now Playing List of all SeriesII, but selecting it flashes the actual Now Playing List that is on the Series 3 for less than one second, then displays the screen: The DVR has no recordings. Press LEFT to return to the Now Playing List. I have searched the forums and have not found a similar instance of this problem. Any suggestions?

Try rebooting all of the TiVos.

Tried Rebooting all TiVos - No change, but thank you!

Can you connect to the NPL of your S3 through a browser? Go to https://{Your TiVo IP} and then login with the username 'tivo' and your MAK (media access key) as the password. If you can't get the NPL to show up that way, your other TiVos won't be able to either.

Adding a few more questions to windracer's:

1. Have all of these TiVos worked with MRV previously for you, or is one or more new?
2. Have you checked your account at tivo.com to make sure video sharing is set on all?
3. Have you checked tivo.com to make sure all these TiVos are in "good standing" as far as subscription?
4. Have you looked on each TiVo to verify they all have the same MAK?
5. Do you run TiVo Desktop, and if so can it access the NPLs?
6. Have you recently changed anything with your router or router firewall? (the discovery of what TiVos are on your network, and the conveying of NPL information between TiVos, use two different internet protocols and ports - thus one can get blocked when the other one isn't).

Can you tell us how to determine a blocked port?

Able to access S3 with https.
1. Have all of these TiVos worked with MRV previously for you, or is one or more new? All worked previously.
2. Have you checked your account at tivo.com to make sure video sharing is set on all? All are set on all.
3. Have you checked tivo.com to make sure all these TiVos are in "good standing" as far as subscription? All are in good standing.
4. Have you looked on each TiVo to verify they all have the same MAK? All have the same Media Access Key.
5. Do you run TiVo Desktop, and if so can it access the NPLs? Yes, all of them.
6. Have you recently changed anything with your router or router firewall? (the discovery of what TiVos are on your network, and the conveying of NPL information between TiVos, use two different internet protocols and ports - thus one can get blocked when the other one isn't). No changes to router or firewall.

The real clue seems to be that the actual NPL for the S3 shows up for a very brief time before switching to the no recordings statement, and that it used to work before. Not quite sure how to determine if a port is blocked with out some way of looking at the traffic between the S2 and S2 and identifying if a packet with a particular port number off the IP address was getting NAKs. I have no tools but this computer, so any suggestions are appreciated!

I suggest you to rename your TiVoes in www.tivo.com then force the connection (it may take a while for it to show up in TiVoes) then reboot. You can change them back to original names (rename again) if you wish and force the connection and reboot again the same way.

I have been having this problem ever since I installed a Tuning Adapter (which has yet to work.)

You had mentioned that, but I hadn't really picked up on it - that is interesting, especially if you are briefly seeing some correct info from the S3! That almost certainly means that it's not an account issue, and probably means it's not a networking issue - almost certainly not blocked ports, but it could still be a hardware related networking problem (you getting some packets but not all, and getting an error on a later packet (fragment?)). However, I would expect many more problems in other areas if you have bad hardware.

One possibility is that the S3 has a show on it with corrupted metadata about the show. Once the S2 reaches that show in the list, it bombs on the error and abandons everything. I'm not sure how to debug that - possibly by looking at the shows from the PC TiVo Desktop and just look for something strange.

Given what you're seeing, I can't think of anything software setting related that it could be. I would think there has to be errors/corruption involved.

Did anybody ever come up with a solution to this? I'm seeing the identical problem. Three S2 and one S3 on my network. The S3 sees the NPL on all the S2 units, which all see each other. None of the S2 can see the NPL on the S3.

There's another thread on this already.
