It often feels that I am starting half my leisure time looking at a please wait message displayed by tivo.

If you accidentally hit one of the new feature which I assume everyone else is avoiding as well you are stuck for one till 3 minute before the stupid beta search function is coming up. If you have only 30 minutes each day of time to watch tv then it is really annoying. I am one of the unlucky few who paid $600 for his Tivo and it feels more like a cheap $100 device. In fact my Roku netflix player is a gazillion percent faster than my Tivo3.

Had to write this message after seeing an advertisement where Tivo was proudly showing off these new features.

My wait time to get into both the Tivo Search and Video on Demand screens is about 3 seconds. Using Tivo Search I never have a delay of more than 5 seconds while looking up things and moving through the various menus. Video on Demand does seem to take longer, about 10-15 seconds when navigating menus.

Might this be a network issue? My set up is completely wired. If you're using wireless maybe that creates some of the delay?

Is this a tivo3 or a HD? I do have a wireless network. All other devices that are connected to it (wireless bridge with router) do not seem to suffer any adverse affects and a delay of a couple of minutes is hard to achieve with network delays.

My wait time for TiVo Search and Video On Demand is 2-5 seconds (it varies by day/time) with the TivoHD on my wired network.

Note there are two ways to effectively eliminate the pause menu. Instructions for that can be found in the Using TiVo link in my signature. I eliminate the pause menu with a Harmony universal remote.

I'm using two of the original S3 models.

I'm guessing you have a network/ISP issue as I never wait more than a couple/few seconds for TiVo search.

My wait is probably close to 5 seconds on a series 3 with a wireless connection.

Not that this helps with your 3 minute wait time, but you can "break out" of any of the HME apps (which includes TiVo Search), by pressing the TiVo or Live TV remote buttons.
