Questions about moving to a new apartment.....

Long time reader, first time poster...

I will be moving into a new apartment at the end of the month and I will be taking myh HDTiVo with me. After 3 visits by the comcast guy to install the M-Card when I bought the unit last summer, I want this installation to go much smoother. What do I need to do now (with 3 weeks to go) to ensure a smooth transaction?

Are you moving within the same city, same zipcode, same cable provider? If so, just unplug it, move it and plug it back in.

Yes, I am staying within Baltimore County, but will be changing zip codes. I will be staying with comcast.

Where I live I can use the zip code next to me and my tivo will still work ok. As long as the channel line up is the same it will work ok.

Hopefully they're smarter about the cards now and even if there's an issue they'll be able to help you without a truck roll.

I realize it varies by geography - but both last year and this year I picked up cards at the local office, and they were registered/activated/whatever over the phone. Took a couple of minutes. I'm not sure why this isn't done everywhere, or maybe people don't want to pick them up ... ?
