I have a TiVo HD DVR. I have HDMI output going to my TV, and coax digital audio going to my Sony HTIB system.

Over the past month, I've noticed that on some recorded programs, there are audio problems. Kind of like static, but more often it's very brief skips or drops in audio, along with clicks when the audio resumes. Visually the program is fine. It seems to occur whether the channel is an HD one or not.

It doesn't occur with all recordings, and doesn't seem to occur with live TV. The Sony A/V receiver works fine with other things (DVD inputs etc.)

Any suggestions about where I should look first? This is in the west-of-Boston suburban area, in case it helps. I have Verizon FIOS.

As an aside, my TiVo does seem a bit erratic lately. I swear some programs that I had recorded disappeared by themselves, and there was plenty of space left. And when I finish watching a program and am at the details screen, I click on the "Delete" on-screen menu option. TiVo makes the boop-boop confirmation noise... but it's not deleted, and it just stays at that screen. I have to click it again to get it to "take". Rebooting TiVo hasn't helped.

Welcome to the forum. First, consider yourself lucky to have FIOS. I figure it may reach my house in oh, say 2020 -- or never!

I've had a TiVo HD for about a month now. I use HDMI to the TV and no separate audio channel. I don't have your problems although there are a few weird behavior items.

There have been problems with FIOS signals being too strong and needing to be attenuated (see thread in this forum). Software version 11.0d, just now being pushed out, is supposed to fix this I hear.

Or you could have a bad hard drive. You could run a diagnostic called Kickstart 54 to test the drive as described in this post (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=5643823#post5643823). The procedure for HD TiVo's differs slightly from what is described. First where it says "..only the yellow light" it is actually the yellow light plus the red light. Also the test menu has an additional layer where you select which test - select the detailed or long one. When tests complete you left-arrow to exit. The clear button doesn't cancel either -- or else I didn't press it at the right time.

There are a number of threads of problems similar to yours. Take a look at them.
