I looked online at my acount and have the offer for a Tivo HD for $199 and the lifetime service for $299. Is there a problem to order it and then install it at a family members home? Or is there some issue when it needs to be installed on the same IP address as the other units?
I am trying to get my parents a good deal on a unit.
Thanks

As a follow up. I just spoke with Tivo. It was no problem to transfer the service while I was buying it. As an aside, when they asked if I needed any other accessories, I said I needed a wifi adapter, but unless they could give me a great deal, I would buy it cheaper at Amazon. She gave it to me for 50% off or $29.95 and included it with the other free shipping with no questions asked.
Great deal all around in my opinion.

I got this deal about a month ago from an email from tivo except in addition to the great deal they threw in a free wifi adapter.
And then to off set the cost of the purchase I sold my series 2 with lifetime.

This type deal has been around on and off for over a year. Last May (2008) I purchased a Tivo HD (it also came with TiVo's wireless adapter for free) from TiVo for $199 and lifetime for $299. Seems to be the best that you can get from TiVo directly. Others have found a better deal at Sears but those were hit and miss depending on inventory.
Thanks,
