I have a Series 3 Tivo HD with Time Warner Cable Card and Tuning Adapter. Recently, I received a notice from Tivo that Golf Channel is now available in HD on channel 439. However, when I enter 439 on my remote it says that channel is not available.

Does anyone know how I would troubleshoot this? Please help. Thanks.

Just because the Tivo says that the Golf channel is available doesn't mean you are subscribed to the channel. Are you sure that you should be able to receive it? Are you paying for the tier which the channel is in?

Yes, I am supposed to receive the Golf Channel in HD. There is way to get the Tivo to find the new HD channels but I don't know how to do this.

I have a cable card and tuning adapter also so I am not sure how all 3 of these devices work together.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appeciated?

I suggest unplugging the USB cable from the Tuning Adapter, and then plugging it back in.

The TiVo will detect the Tuning Adapter going away, and then being reconnected, it will then rescan for available channels.

You could also restart the TiVo.

Also, for verification, if you happen to have a normal cable box on another television, you could tune in there to see if the channel is available. If its not, then the TiVo obviously won't see it.

also, sometimes the channel has to be manually authorized with respect to the cable card by Time Warner, so if the other suggestions don't work, try calling them and ask them to check.

I tried re-booting both devices and that did not work. Then I called Time Warner and they hung up on me the first time. The 2nd time customer had no idea and then transferred me to National Help Desk.

They actually said "we have no idea to tell what Cable line up you have" so the channel is probably not released in your area yet. This is complete BS as I know of neighbors who get the Golf HD channel on Time Warner in Cleveland.

It's no surprise to me that Time Warner has such a bad reputation. Their customer service is just awful.

Have you tried to rerunning guided setup?

Also, it's helpful when city, state & zip code are included in the sig line.

Sometime tivo adds channels before the cable company turns them on.

I watched Golf Channel HD at my neighbor's house so I know it's in my cable lineup. Any idea on how I can Time Warner to help me fix this problem? They don't seem to have any idea on how to fix this after 3 calls.

Guided setup has no affect on CableCard authorization. There are two possibilities:

1) TW hasn't configured the TA's in that area correctly to receive the new channel.
2) The user isn't authorized to see the channel because they don't subscribe to that tier.

Series 3, TWC, with Tuning Adapter here in Canton. 439 gives me Golf channel. One thing you can try is:

Settings->Account/System Info->CableCARD decoders->CableCard 1-> Test Channels

Try tuning the channel on each card. I recently had a problem where the new HD channels were only tuning sometimes. I couldn't figure it out until I tested the channels on each card. This revealed that one card was properly working and the other wasn't. I wish I could tell you what they did to fix it. I called (during normal business hours so I wasn't in India) and told the tech support person that I do not have a cable box, but cable cards. I told her I was missing some channels on one card. She "sent some signals" and after about 1 minute, everything came up on both cards. Another note, I was also missing channels all over the board, not just the new ones. I hope this helps!!!
