What is the best way to use iphone to control my tivo from outside my LAN?
I'm not talkink about a remote control...
I'm interested in being able to set up recordings while away from home.

The only thing that would probably work is a Slingbox coupled with the Slingbox iPhone app, which you could use to see your TiVo and control it just like you were sitting in front of it. The Slingbox app will only work on a wifi network, though, unless you're jailbroken.

You can schedule recordings from the tivo.com web site - just go there in Safari and log into your account.

If, by chance, you're a DirecTv customer with a TiVo, "there's an app for that."

That sounds good to me.
The web page will scale well enough for me to operate the site?

Sorry; when you said "control my TiVo" I thought you meant remote control. I missed the second line of your post. If you're interested in only setting up recordings, then yeah-- the mobile version of the TiVo site is the way to go.

m.tivo.com works, I also use regular tivo.com to schedule recordings. To control the TiVo DVR Remote app is the best. You should get it, the text input system makes it worth the price. YouTube searches are a 1000x easier with it.
