It seems to me that while flipping through the channels I'm seeing alot more channel guide errors lately. Any reason that this would be happening now?

No problems here (Comcast Minneapolis). What exactly are you seeing?

It's not a tivo issue.
TVLand is just about the last channel that I'd expect to provide accurate guide data.

No Issues here with Comcast Bay Area, CA. Although some shows are being repalce with Farah & M.J. specials.

I saw a few minor guide data errors in the past week. None caused a program to be missed (all were still recorded), but the guide information was incomplete.

Examples:

- no episode title on the latest episode of Weeds (SHOWHD)
- no episode title on the latest episode of Merlin (WRCDT - NBC)

It does not appear to be TiVo-specific.

Well, I live in the Bay Area too, and yesterday the guide listed two shows on TNT that when I recorded them, I got a different show. I double checked the listings and the recording - and the guide was clearly wrong

I suspect that -- at least in the SF Bay Area -- that the local conversion of extended basic channel lineups from analog to digital over the past couple months may be in part to blame for lineup and program guide errors. The local PBS station is broadcasting alerts that their transmissions and shows may be "unstable" between July 24 and September 30 while they move their transmitting antenna. And they advise their viewers to rescan the channel lineup frequently between now and mid-October, to insure that the customer's new "all-digital" reception is getting all of the stations.

For the Comcast Digital Transport Adapters connected to some of my TVs and Tivos, I assume this means I have to power-cycle the DTAs about once per week to get them to "re-sync" with the station lineups.

Channels like TNT will not differ from market to market however.

I didn't miss any recordings or anything. I just keep noticing as I flip through the channels that there are programs on that are not what the on screen display says they are.

Did Tivo ever restore the online reporting of guide errors?

I haven't noticed any improper recordings, but I have noticed weird glitches with the guide data. As I'm "paging" through, for the first second or so after flipping to the next page of channels, the info will show the wrong program... then it'll immediately "correct" itself to what is really showing.

Anyone else seeing this symptom, and could it be related?

Edit to add a case in point, one that I see right now: as I flip to the page of data that contains TV Guide Channel, it first displayed a program called "Jon & Kate: It's Too Late," then corrected itself to display a show called "Secrets of the Hollywood Body." It does this every time I flip to this page... that is, I can flip off that page of channels, then back to that page, and it will reproduce the same symptom of showing one program, then correcting itself.

Did Tivo ever restore the online reporting of guide errors? Yes, it did. Click here (http://www.tivo.com/setupandsupport/contactsupport/lineup_tool.html).

I am noticing on Conan and Dave that I am getting repeats recording even when I have it set to FRO. No biggie.

I am noticing on Conan and Dave that I am getting repeats recording even when I have it set to FRO. No biggie.Did you recently create this season pass? If so, recall that "first-run only" does not mean future episodes only.

I set my season pass to "first-run only." Why is it recording older episodes of a show?

"First-run only" is synonymous with new episodes only. But it does not mean future episodes only. On the TiVo, "first-run only" also refers to any episode that aired for the first time on television within the past 28 days.

This 28 day period applies to the actual date of the broadcast, not the date you created the season pass. If you just got your TiVo, and you created a "first-run only" season pass for Mythbusters on May 27th, then the TiVo would only record the May 6th episode if it was shown again on or before June 3rd (28 days later).

The TiVo keeps a record of all programs recorded in the past 28 days to prevent re-recording the same program twice. Once you've recorded a new episode, there's no chance of it being recorded again, because the TiVo will not record the same program twice within 28 days, and after 28 days, the program is no longer considered first-run.

There are a few shows like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Big Brother that don't always provide good guide data for their re-runs. These re-runs lack episode titles and they use generic descriptions. Without good guide data, a TiVo series recording can't determine whether these are new or repeats, so it "plays it safe" and records them all. The conventional wisdom is to create a repeating manual recording (ex: M-F @ 11:00pm) for these shows, but there is a more elegant solution -- see TiVo Tips #8 (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=7097288#post7097288) for details.

Periodically with Jay Leno, my season pass would record old episodes when they had bad guide data (no episode info and a generic description). There is an easy fix to eliminate that, as noted in TiVo Tips #8 (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?p=7097288#post7097288).

I canceled my season pass for the Tonight Show when Conan took over, so I can't say whether that still happens.

I seen that exact one, I have seen this issue for months now. I just thought it was just a corrected guide data download which wasn't completely processed.

It is updated guide data that isn't in the guide view cache yet. You can see the last guide view cache date in the system info screen. This isn't a bug. This is how TiVo gets the guide data to display without taking forever to load. This has been around for a long time.

I am now receiving four channels with no program information. If I want to record from them, I have to use manual recording. I sent a line up notice to TiVo last week, but I haven't had a change yet.

It does that pretty much whenever the guide data changes. It shows what was originally scheduled and then the new schedule.

I got three of the four channels with no program information fixed with that lineup notice to TiVo. I didn't include the fourth one because it wasn't an important channel to me. I did send a note to Zap2it (Tribune Media Services' website and provider for TiVo's program guide).
