So, my sincere apologies if this has been answered before, but I've been Googling all day and haven't been able to find a suitable answer...

I've got a WD 500GB drive that I'd like to put in my freshly-PROM-modded Series 2 TCD649080 TiVo. The drive has been formatted as NTFS and is unpartitioned at the moment...

...but I can't seem to get the PTVupgrade LBA48 v.4.04 boot disk working properly. After fighting to get it to even mount properly, which it now seems to do, I get the following error when typing either "cdrom" or "/cdrom /sapper" at the prompt:

/bin/cdrom: /cdrom/nsts/*.nst: No such file or directory

Did something not burn to the disc properly? What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Try the more current tools at mfslive.org

Fantastic; WinMFS got the replacement drive up and running in no time.

Now, in theory, if I wanted to install some extra stuff, i.e. the Superpatch and so on (really all I want to do is enable Multi-Room Viewing) what's the best way to go about doing so?

I assume you have a Directv unit. If so, you need to be running 6.2 or earlier (I believe). Look in the underground forum for the zipper.

No, this is a standalone TiVo, not a DirecTV unit. So that means I need the Sapper instead, right?

I've had trouble getting the Sapper to install via a boot disc. Is there another way of installing it? Another tool besides the PTVupgrade series of discs?

(Look at my first post in this thread; it lists my model number and PTVupgrade disc version, as well as the error I can't get past in the Sapper's installation process...)

Multi-room viewing is part of your Tivo subscription. You should not need to do anything but name your Tivos on tivo.com.

When you use /cdrom/sapper, there should be no spaces in the command.
