Recent downloads via Tivo Desktop Plus result in playing the sound badly out of synchronization with the video on my iPod touch. This never used to be the case and neither the laptop (Dell XPS M1330 running Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2) nor the iPod Touch have changed.
The lag is constant from start to finish on the iPod Touch, but videos play synchronized on the Dell under Windows Media Player. The problem only occurrs on my iPod.
TiVo Desktop is Version 2.7 (323086) and the iPod Touch is running version 2.2.1.
I would appreciate any help anyone can provide to fix this problem.
Cheers.

The problem is some source mpeg2 videos from your Tivos have defects (timestamp issues or other problems) that cause problems once you try and encode to a different format (such as for your Ipod). The only reliable fix is to purchase VideoRedo ($50 for Plus version) and run Quick Stream Fix on the source mpeg file, and then encode to an Ipod compatible format - you can't use Tivo Desktop for that flow but there are other tools available that make it easy. There is a fully functional free trial version of VideoRedo you can use to confirm it does indeed fix the problem if you want to try it.

Thanks moyekj.
What puzzles me is that every video used to play perfectly synchronized, and now everyone is terribly out of sync. Does this still sound like an mpeg2 issue?
Cheers.

Cheers. No I wouldn't expect every single recording to be out of sync especially if they are from different channels. If you still have a recording that encoded OK in the past then that would be a good test. The problem with Tivo Desktop is you really don't have much control over the encoding phase so there is really nothing you can do to correct the problem using that solution.
