Tivo won't start

When I went down stairs this morning the tivo was not working.

Basically it gives the "Tivo starting" then "...almost there" message, then the TV screen goes blank at it starts again.

Basically it's failing to startup.

Any ideas how I can fix this? My family will munity if I don't get Tivo working.

Sounds like a drive problem - a replacement drive, either DIY or preconfigured, should fix it :)

Would a fried modem make it hang earlier? Wouldn't want the op to buy a drive if he needs a CacheCard.

My money would be on the drive.
