Or, hanging on until the new DirecTV TiVO units become available...

Our HR10 -- for no apparent reason -- starts searching for signal on the other tuner. Test Satellite Signal Strength shows both tuners strong and clear (in the 90s), after which both tuners will work fine anywhere from seconds to days. Note that this happens for tuner 1 or 2, as long as it's the other tuner.

This started a few weeks ago.

From a few past experiences, I suspect that the software has been updated whenever I get flakiness. It currently shows Software Version 6.4a-01-2-357.

Any ideas?

Have you tried rebooting the Tivo?

That software version is the current and was updated sometime early last year.

My suggestion would also be to do a reboot.

We've tried rebooting many times. Well, at least it's not a software update problem.

I had a similar problem with one of my HR10's. Tried swapping cables, etc. and finally came to the conclusion that one of the tuners was bad. Ran guided setup and forced TiVo to use only one tuner. My problem was isolated to tuner #2 and it sounds like yours is having the problem with both tuners. Could be a multiswitch issue, bad cables/connectors, tree branches, internal TiVo problem like power supply. You could also try the Clear program info & To Do List or Clear & delete everything.
