HELP! My Tivo had been working great for about a year and then about 2 weeks ago, a guy from Comcast came over and updated our router to 3.0 service. It's also now picking up 22 megs instead of the old speed of 12.
Today, my TIVO guide is not picking up the network information so I can't see the names of shows that are playing and can't record ahead or get season passes. Basically it's not working correctly. And the reason is because it's not able to connect to the network. I tried unplugging and restarting and it's not happening.
Comcast is telling me it's because my TIVO is too old can't pick up the new speed, it's too fast. And I believe that I have a TIVO HD Dvr.
HELP?????? Please.

You aren't giving sufficient info here, and you are being rather sloppy with terminology.
-- You say they "updated your router to 3.0". Which doesn't make sense. They might have replaced your cable modem with a newer DOCSIS 3.0 modem, or possibly given you a new modem/router combo device. Are you currently using a separate modem + separate router, or a combo device, and what are the brand/model #s of each of this equipment? What did you have before, what was replaced?
- Is the Tivo connected to the network using wired Ethernet, or are you using the Tivo wireless adapter? If wireless, maybe the SSID and password were changed and you have to reconfigure. Or maybe router set to a wireless-N only mode or something like that. What does the Tivo network status report say?
What Comcast said about "the new speed is too fast" is nonsense. It should be able to connect, although if wireless it may not fully utilize the speed.

All I know is that Comcast said something about being updated to 3.0 And yes I was given a seperate router/modem, they are from Netgear.
And my TIVO used a wireless adapter which is working, the green lights are on. Whenever I try to connect to network, it says "network cable unplugged." But it's definitely plugged in.

Did the name of your wireless network get changed? What network are you connected to? How much signal strength is indicated?

Restart the Tivo.
When that eliminates the error you've been getting it'll probably give a network not found error which will be because the new router has a different network name and security code as others have stated. Change the Tivo's network settings to those of the new network.

How do I find the new network name and security code? And how do I change Tivo's to match it? Sorry if these seem like dumb@ss questions, just don't know a lot about this. Thanks.

There should be directions that came with your router...if not, look online. Usually you plug in an ISP number in your Web browser which brings up a page allowing configuration of your router including naming the network and the security code.
No such thing as a dumb@ss question...other than the one not asked.

There's a reasonable chance that Comcast gave you paperwork with the SSID/keyphrase. Also possible it's labeled on the router somewhere. Alternately, your computer should be able to get into a web page on the router to configure it. It's best to hardwire the computer to the router with Ethernet instead of wireless; in case you mess up a setting you'll be able to get back in easily to fix it. Otherwise just be really careful with changing passwords.
In a command prompt, type "ipconfig /all" and you should be able to find out your "default gateway". It'll be something like 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254 . In your web browser, point to http://192.168.1.1 or whatever that gateway's IP is. It'll prompt you for a username & password. For username, try "admin" or "comcast". For password, try "1234" or "password". Try different combos of those until you get in. If none of those combos work, your best bet is probably to contact Comcast for help.
Once you get in, you should be able to find the wireless settings, what the SSID name is, and put in a password you can remember. Then go to the Tivo network settings, it walks you through what to enter. If your PC is using wireless you have to change the password on the PC to match.
