I have an older Series 1 unit. My original, has the "lifetime" subscription.

A little while back it seemed to stop RECORDING audio. Anything already recorded played back fine, but anything recorded after that had no audio.

I have checked and rechecked all connections and cables, to no avail. Rebooted several times.

Any thoughts/ideas?

It sits alone now, only connected to the phone jack so it stays in touch with TiVo to maintain the "lifetime" subscription.

Kind of like Donovan's Brain!

Is this on any channel?

I had a problem with an old tivo that only happened on I think comedy central. Do you get sound on live tv?

Try changing the default audio in the settings to MONO, and see if that helps.

The audio encoder could be broke.

If it were me, I'd buy one of those Philips units from Surplus Computers (thread in Coffee House) and move the crypto chip over.
