I don't get the joke. Was that Jason Schwartzman and Rog from What's Happening?

Is this for real? I'm not sure it is because:
(possible spoiler related to an unreleased summer movie)
It was featured as the TV show of Jason Schwartzman's character in the upcoming movie Funny People. I saw a preview of the movie and the impression I got was that it was a fake show. If it is real show, then Funny People is just a commercial for a new TV show.

It's completely unreal considering so many things, not least of which that Jason Schwartzman's name is listed as Mark Taylor Jackson.
But that spoiler makes sense, cause I was trying to figure out what the clip was actually promoting.

That laugh track makes the clip unwatchable.

A clue: it says the season premiere is Thursday, September 27, but that's not a Thursday in 2009.

First glance at this it looked like a bad rip off of Head of the Class, would have been funnier if it was, this just looks bad.

I guess I'm not getting the joke. Clearly a parody of a stereotypical sitcom... but past that point, I'm not getting what is funny about it, if anything.

Nothing funny per se...just viral marketing for this movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1201167/). It's a Universal release, so it's corporate synergy to have it on NBC.com.

It is a pretty good movie, BTW.

It's not out yet. Did you go to an early screening or something?
If so, answer me this: The trailer looks like it gives away the entire plot of the movie. Is that the case, or is there much more to the story after Adam Sandler's character finds out he is no longer dying?

I saw a screening a few weeks ago, so I am sure that there was plenty of editing left to do.
There is more after that, but that is where the story comes to a head.
