I know this problem varies from affiliate to affiliate, but it looks like FOX-5 in D.C. finally has the guide data correct for the Simpsons repeats. It used to be an intermittent thing, a couple months with episode-specific data, a couple months with generic data. But the latest stretch has been about 2-3 years of generic data. At times I've used a recurring manual recording, but for the past year or two, I've gone through the To Do List about once a week and cancelled all the repeats, then deleted the SP over the summer. I was about to do that this weekend, and when I checked the To Do list, I noticed that there weren't any Simpsons episodes. When I looked at the program guide, I saw that the repeats actually had non-generic guide data.
Actually, this problem had sort of been resolved for me for a few months. Over the past couple years, all of my TiVo units have been replaced with DirecTV HD DVR's. The logic in those used to work differently than the TiVo software. That is, if it didn't say whether it was a repeat or first run, it assumed that it was a repeat. Therefore, it didn't record the generic guide data episodes. But they evidently made a change to the software some time last year, shortly after I had replaced my last TiVo, so that it started recording all of the repeats.
I just hope it lasts this time. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this.
