Clear & del everthing: "This will take an hour" -- or three?

I've got a Sony SAT-T60 that I retired last year after several years of faithful service. I finally got around to selling it on eBay; it sold tonight. In getting it ready for shipping, I ran the "clear and delete everything" command -- mind you, the first time I've reset the receiver in any way in 4-5 years of use.

The C&D command flashes up a "This will take an hour" message on the screen while running. OK -- except that it's been going at it for almost three hours now. Should I be worried? If it never does come back, and I have to unplug the box, what am I going to have when I plug it back in? A fragged receiver?

Give it several hours. If it's still seems hung up after that, unplug the Tivo and keep your fingers crossed when you boot it up again.

Thanks. I let it run overnight and it did finish eventually. No idea how long it ended up taking, but it was at least four hours!
