Is there any reason my tivo hacks would be automatically deleted?

I have a very old series 1 directivo. Yesterday /var/hack disappeared entirely. We did have multiple power glitches during the day. Is there some builtin routine that would do this due to multiple unexplained reboots?

... and before you say it... there was no software update. the root partitions were unaffected. Only /var.

When the Tivo boots, it checks the /var partition to see if the file system is corrupt, and to see how much free space is available. If there is a problem, it deletes everything on the partition and re-creates the original file structure, so all your hacks get lost.

Most likely the power went out while it was writing to /var, and corrupted something. You should keep your hacks backed up somewhere, because occasionally the log files get big enough to trigger this.

hmmm. Odd that fsck couldn't fix it. The reboots were not so close together that they would have overlapped. There were just lots of them -- probably 7-8 in a day.

And /var hasn't been full. I have well over a year of cacti graphs on it. It's never even hit 50%.
