Cablevision SDV/Tuning Adapter Question

I am a Cablevision subscriber in central NJ. We have iO Silver, no premium channels. Is there any reason/benefit to hook up a Tuning Adapter to the Series 3? I've heard conflicting reports on this... will it give me PPV?

You can already get PPV by calling up Cablevision and ordering over the phone. I have done this numerous times for different events. I think you mean On Demand, which it will not give you. The Tuning Adapter will allow you to receive those stations that are SDV (Switched Digital Video). Those include the recently added HD movie stations (HBO, Starz, etc.).

The newly added non-premium HD stations may or may not be SDV in your area. Someone who lives there can help with the specific area. If they are, and they are in many areas, then you would need the Tuning Adapter to receive them.

It will not give you PPV. It does give you additional premium HD Channels. You can check the Optimum website for whats included in your package.
As an FYI, I have disconnected my TA because it kept re-booting and the TiVo would miss recordings.
