OK so I get home and the cable box for the Series 1 and the M-card in the Tivo HD are no longer working. The Cablevision guy over the phone said that the M-card was receiving updates and that I needed to call TiVo to trouble shoot it. After I hang up I remove the M-card and do the guided setup again. The TiVo works just fine. They're coming on Monday to check the cable box, I'll call them back and tell them to bring a new Mcard too.

Most likely it's not the box but the card. From what I've been told by support techs and reps, the lifespan on the cards is pathetically low compared to other electronics (like 1-2 years)

I called them an told them to have the tech bring a couple of M-cards when he comes. Been having problems on and off with the box for a while now. Usually just unplug it and it resets itself. Seemed waaay to coincidental that the box and card went bad at the same time. I have a second box in the bedroom that works just fine. The Cablevision HD guy was not much help. I've been on the phone with Cablevision at least 25+ times since we switched from Direct TV about 3 years ago. The wife works from home and it made sense to get the triple play, or what ever they call it. I had Direct TV for 8 years previously and I called them twice, once to set it up for the first time, and again to activate a third receiver.

OK.....everything works fine as of this afternoon. I'm not canceling the appt. I checked the channel signal yesterday on the TiVo and it was zero, today it's 87. Also the box works fine too. Definitely a problem on their end.

The channel signal on the TiVo was at zero when the tech got here. Good thing it crapped out when he was, or he probably would of thought I was nuts. As it turns out the cable service coming into the house was about 20+ years old (Probably because I live in the middle of farm land/nowhere). The Tech ran a new line from the pole to the house. Everything works great, even seems like the internets is faster. The channel signal is 94. Plus the tuner adapter works now. Sweet.
